.... or "Y-Man" as the case may be.
So, the results of the amniocentesis that my wife had done a couple weeks ago yielded one interesting result: my unborn child has an inverted Y chromosome.
Really.
We have no idea what the hell that means. Apparently, neither does anyone else. As far as we can tell, it isn't linked to any genetic disorder. The only thing we can find on the web is a discussion about how it's more common among the Gujarati Muslims.
Okay but what the fuck does that mean?
Maybe nothing. Or maybe he'll have some kind of weird mutant ability that will manifest in puberty. Maybe it'll be harmless, like the ability to tell how much pocket change a person is carrying. Or maybe he'll be able to summon ninja wizards or bears that shoot laser beams out of their eyes. Maybe he'll be feared and hated by society, and forced into a life of persecution and and rejection.... until he gets fed up with it all and initiates a war on humanity that will decimate the population of the earth.
Or maybe it means that he's just like his old man. Apparently the inverted Y chromosome is hereditary. Therefore if I have it... well, then we'll know how he got it. And the fact that I'm... relatively normal should put some fears to rest. Or maybe the world isn't ready for two of me.
