WTF!?!

A couple days ago, my wife got a call from a former co-worker who needed to unload on someone because of the bad turn her life had taken. Keep in mind that this person is not particularly good friends with my wife... she doesn't really have anyone to talk to.

So, being the sympathetic soul my wife is, she agrees to drive over and meet Lady X at the hotel she's staying at. This was 10:30 p.m. on Friday Night. When she gets there, she gets the full story: Lady X isn't staying at her apartment because her husband isn't talking to her. She's pregnant with another man's baby... another man who apparently had a wife and kid of his own, but who is also on the outs with said spouse... So now you have two people who are on the fast track to divorce and clinging to each other because there's nowhere else to turn. Incidentally, Married Cheater Father is apparently getting custody of said child since the mother, upon hearing of his infidelity, grabbed the kid and got on a midnight flight to Japan (her home country)... the court is looking at that as a form of abduction.

So now Lady X wants to be with MCF, but only if MCF's soon-to-be-ex-wife is completely out of the picture, with no visiting rights to her own son... and if MCF can demonstrate that he is completely dedicated to Lady X, prioritizing her even over his own child.

Somewhere in the middle of telling this story to my wife, Lady X proclaims "I'm hungry... I haven't eaten for aq day... can you take me to an In-n-Out?" (Lady X doesn't have a car) So my wife drives her to the nearest one, maybe a good 20 minutes away... all the while listening to this pathetic story unfold... and when they finally arrive, Lady X says "I can't eat, I'm too upset."

This is the point where most people would have kicked Lady X's ass out onto the street.

My wife, however, turns around and heads back to the hotel. That's when Lady X says "I don't want to be alone tonight... can I stay at your place?" Fortunately, my wife drew the line there and politely turned her down. She also turned down the request for my wife to stay with Lady X in her hotel room. Lady X wasn't happy. She basically stopped talking at that point. When they got to the hotel, she said quickly, "I'll get an abortion and go back to my stupid husband. He'll take me back." Then she got out of the car and went back to her room.

My wife came home (1 a.m.), found me sitting on the couch watching my newly purchased copy of "Kingdom of Heaven" on Blu Ray, curled up next to me and said "I love you so much."

Yup... sometimes what it takes to appreciate your own life is watching someone else's fall apart.

The next day, My wife found out that Lady X called another of the former co-workers and arranged to stay at their place for the night... only when that person showed up to pick her up from the hotel, they found MCF and his son were there also. Lady X wanted to bring them along. Yup, that didn't go over well. They stayed at the hotel.

No, I don't understand it either.

Definitely, WTF! Weird how some people can create their own soap opera world to live. Even weirder when they try to drag you into it.

Wow. Good for your wife that she refused to make your place Haven.

Gotta go hug the hubby, myself!
